There is no legal significance to this service, but it is the occasion when many people wish to celebrate in front of their family and friends, to express their continuing love and devotion to each other.

The ceremonies follow much the same form as a marriage ceremony, with the exception that under Australian law it must be stated that this is not a marriage service, but a Renewal or Re-affirmation ceremony.
